About Us

The Trust is an independent Charitable Trust.

The running and development of the Trust is overseen by a group of unpaid Trustees drawn from from across the UK. The Trustees meet on a quarterly basis.

The administration of the Trust is undertaken by Charis Grants Ltd, a company established to set up and administer independent charitable Trusts on behalf of the utilities sector.

 Mike Lake

Mike Lake (Chairman)

Mike is Director General of the Help the Aged charity and a Trustee of the Disasters Emergency Committee. Mike was awarded the CBE in 1995 and the British Gerontology Society Medal 1999.

 Harry Cathcart

 

Henry Cathcart (Treasurer)

Harry Cathcart is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland, and has been a Director and Vice-president of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of International Bankers in Scotland. He is currently chairman of two investment trusts.

 Barbara Ruffell

Barbara Ruffell

Barbara Ruffell MBE JP has been a magistrate for over 20 years. She is Vice-Chairman of Water Voice Eastern (formerly OFWAT CSC), a trustee and ex-chairman of the Anglian Water Trust Fund, and has worked at local national and international (EU and UN) level for various National Government Organisations. 

 Jenny Saunders

Jenny Saunders

Jenny Saunders is Chief Executive of National Energy Action. An active campaigner for the Warm Homes and Energy Conservation Act, she is involved in parliamentary liaison and provides the secretariat for the all-party Parliamentary Warm Homes Group.

                                   

 

Helen McLeod

Helen McLeod currently manages a medical research charity, and was previously Trust Relationship Manager of the British Gas Energy Trust for the first 3 years of its operation. She has experience as an advisor in money advice.
